They Bring Fear. We Bring Each Other.
ICE is tightening its grip in our neighborhoods, working to turn everyday life into a landscape of fear, tearing families apart, and killing with impunity while federal representatives try to gaslight us about literal videos we are watching. This violence is not distant or abstract: it lives on our blocks, in our schools, in the quiet absences left behind. And still, they underestimate us. Because repression does not only break people; it binds us. Brave Minnesotans are showing us what this resistance looks like, and what we need to grow in every community. In this moment, while ICE sharpens its cruelty, our answer must be collective care, organized action, powerful strategy and strengthening of collaboration, and relentless solidarity. We will turn our outrage into action and organizing, and we show up together: louder, braver, and more united than ever.
Take action:
Note, hyperlinks in the copy below will take you to our toolkit or guide to help you do it! If you have resources to share, send them to us, and we’ll add them to our site.
For Minnesota: visit this site for ways to take action from community members on the ground
In North Carolina: get involved with Siembra NC by joining an upcoming event or training
In your community: be prepared and proactive.
- Build, grow, or scale a local ICE defense network, including being ready if Trump sends Border Patrol or a different federal agency to your town
- Canvass local businesses and build Fourth Amendment Workplaces to ensure workers and workplaces know their rights if ICE shows up
- Pass local resolutions and legislation to support immigrants and defend legal rights of all community members
Nationally:
- Call your federal representative and demand they stand against any measure to grow or fund ICE
- Join national corporate campaigns to target the enablers of ICE
In the coming weeks, we will be relaunching our national trainings. In the meantime, sign up to our email list to get all of our updates. And if you’re a local group looking for coaching on what strategies will be most effective in your communities, email us at hola@defendandrecruit.org
